Dundalk

Full-time, Monday to Friday, Permanent

Salary and benefits package will be negotiable and will depend on experience, early finish on a Friday!

Vickerstock are delighted to be working with a relatively new machinery manufacturing organisation based in Dundalk, on the recruitment of a Buyer to join the Procurement Team.

Your new role as a Buyer:

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will ensure the procurement of materials meets manufacturing schedules and deadlines. You should be used to a very high level of spend and purchasing components on a large scale across multiple suppliers.

Typical duties will include:

  • Working closely with other team members as well as the engineering department to source and procure components

  • Raising purchase orders and monitoring the progress of existing orders

  • Negotiating pricing and credit terms as well as managing any shortages of materials

  • Building long-term relationships with suppliers to improve cost, quality and supply of products

  • Ensure components arrive on time to meet tight production schedules

  • Sourcing and evaluating new suppliers

What you will need to succeed as a Buyer with this organisation: DRIVE / FORWARD-THINKING

  • Previous experience in a buying / procurement role

  • The ability to work under pressure

  • Strong negotiation skills to achieve best price with suppliers

  • Good IT skills and previous experience in MRP / ERP systems

  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to focus and prioritise tasks

  • Proficiency in Word and Excel (essential)

  • Third level degree Procurement / Supply Chain Management or a minimum of 2 years' relative experience

Desirable (the following skills would be valuable, but are not essential)

  • Previous experience in a buying / procurement role ideally within a manufacturing environment
