Job description
Civil Design Engineer - Water | Limerick
Vickerstock Recruitment are delighted to be working with a leading Irish engineering contractor as they continue to grow their in-house design capability. With a strong pipeline of Uisce Éireann projects across Ireland, this is an excellent opportunity for a Design Engineer to play a hands-on role in taking projects from early concept through detailed design and into construction.
This role would suit an engineer who enjoys being close to delivery - thinking about buildability, safety and value from day one - while working as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Your new role as a Civil Design Engineer
As a Design Engineer, you will support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure schemes, working closely with project, construction and commercial teams.
You will be responsible for:
- Producing design documents, drawings and technical details to support live infrastructure projects
- Ensuring designs prioritise safety, environmental compliance, constructability and commercial efficiency
- Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
- Liaising with clients, statutory bodies and key stakeholders
- Undertaking site visits and technical assessments to validate and inform design solutions
- Identifying opportunities for innovation and sustainability within design outputs
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards, regulations and emerging technologies
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Experience in a design engineering role within water, wastewater or infrastructure projects
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (ArcGIS experience highly beneficial)
- Exposure to projects delivered for Uisce Éireann or similar utility providers
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving ability
- Confidence working with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Strong communication skills and a high level of personal motivation
- Some knowledge of MEICA in relation to water projects is an advantage
What's in it for you?
In return, you can expect:
- The opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure projects
- A supportive, forward-thinking engineering environment
- Clear career progression within a growing and ambitious business
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Ongoing professional development and exposure to project delivery, not just design
If you're a Design Engineer looking to work closer to construction while developing your career within the Irish water sector, this is a role well worth exploring.
