Job description

ERP & Inventory Specialist

Location: Northern Ireland
Duration: 3-6 months

We are currently seeking an experienced ERP & Inventory Specialist to provide hands-on support during a critical period of inventory and system optimisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ERP and inventory professional who enjoys getting into the detail, identifying the root cause of problems and implementing practical solutions. The successful consultant will work closely with production and operational teams, providing technical expertise while making system improvements that have a direct impact on inventory accuracy and material availability.

The Role

Working across inventory management, ERP systems and manufacturing operations, you will be responsible for investigating stock inaccuracies, improving inventory control processes and delivering key ERP system updates.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and completing ERP configuration updates and data maintenance associated with changes to the manufacturing and painting process.

  • Auditing ERP inventory parameters and ensuring systems remain accurately aligned with operational requirements.

  • Investigating recurring stock variances and discrepancies across manufacturing operations.

  • Identifying root causes relating to transaction timing, BOM issues, scrap reporting and other inventory processes.

  • Implementing practical ERP and procedural improvements to address stock inaccuracies.

  • Working alongside production and operational teams to investigate inventory anomalies and support physical cycle counts.

  • Developing and refining cycle counting strategies and risk-based counting schedules.

  • Reviewing inventory replenishment models, including safety stock levels, reorder points and economic order quantities.

  • Providing technical and advisory support around ERP, BOM and inventory control queries.

  • Supporting Non-Conformance processing where this is directly linked to inventory variances or stock holds.

  • Assessing opportunities to introduce AI, automation and predictive analytics into inventory management and supply chain processes.

The Person

We are looking for a pragmatic, hands-on consultant who can combine strong ERP technical capability with practical manufacturing and inventory experience.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience configuring, updating and troubleshooting ERP inventory modules, with Infor LN experience highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of inventory management, inventory modelling and stock control methodologies.

  • Experience investigating and resolving stock variances and material discrepancies within a manufacturing environment.

  • A strong understanding of BOMs, ERP transactions and material flows.

  • Experience using structured root cause analysis methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone or Lean Six Sigma.

  • Knowledge of statistical inventory control and replenishment methodologies.

  • An awareness of AI, machine learning, automation or predictive analytics applications within supply chain and inventory management.

  • The ability to work directly with production teams and provide practical shop-floor problem solving.

  • A genuine "doer" mentality, with the ability to move between strategic analysis, system configuration and hands-on problem solving.

The Opportunity

This is a project-focused consultancy assignment where you will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on inventory accuracy, ERP performance and manufacturing operations.

The initial engagement is expected to run for 3-6 months, with a focus on delivering measurable improvements including ERP system updates, root cause analysis of stock inaccuracies, improved cycle counting processes and an AI/automation roadmap for future inventory optimisation.
