Senior Buyer | Belfast

The opportunity for a Senior Buyer role has become available working within the Build Pre-construction team. This company is a leading Tier 1 Civils and Build contractor based in Northern Ireland. They have a portfolio of major builds across the UK and Ireland, from values ranging from £5m - £300m across a diverse range of projects covering both Construction and Civil contracts. The Senior Buyer role would be in support of the long-term plans of the business and its ongoing success.

You're new role

In your new role you will be reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, effectively managing the buying team to ensure best practices are followed and control cost budgets, negotiate supply chain agreements, identify and analyse tender returns in line with budgets to minimise risks before appointing packages, continuously updating purchasing databases through continuous assessment of suppliers and arranged KPI's. You will play a crucial part in the development of this team to maximise the potential of both the group and individuals to ensure efficient contract delivery.

What you will need to succeed in your new role

• 3+ years experience in a similar role
• Commercial awareness within construction and the current market rates
• Experience in managing a team
• Awareness of all forms of main documentation
• Strong experience in meeting KPI's
• Knowledge of software, Microsoft packages and Conquest or COINS
• Ability to read drawings and quantities
• Demonstrate ability to meet tight deadlines

This role could also be suitable for an Estimator or QS who has an interest in procurement.
