Vickerstock are working in partnership with a forward-thinking, purpose-driven food business to recruit a Sustainability Officer.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving sustainability initiatives and environmental improvements across the organisation. You will help shape the company's sustainability strategy, delivering impactful projects that reduce environmental impact while supporting operational excellence.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to embed sustainable practices across products, operations, and supply chains, while promoting a culture of environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.
In your new role:
- Develop, implement, and monitor sustainability strategies and initiatives across the business
- Lead decarbonisation and other key sustainability projects
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and identify opportunities for improvement
- Collect, analyse, and report on sustainability data and environmental performance metrics
- Collaborate with operational, product, and supply chain teams to integrate sustainable practices
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and regulatory bodies, to ensure alignment with sustainability objectives
- Stay informed on industry trends, innovations, and environmental regulations
- Support quality and compliance activities, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
What you will need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline such as biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field
- Demonstrable passion for sustainability and knowledge of sustainable practices
- Strong analytical and data management skills, with experience tracking and reporting environmental metrics
- Excellent organisational and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders effectively
- Innovative mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- Experience implementing sustainability initiatives or environmental management systems in a food or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, certifications, or industry standards
- Involvement in decarbonisation or carbon footprint reduction projects
- Familiarity with quality systems and regulatory compliance frameworks
