Vickerstock are working in partnership with one of the most trusted brand builders in both the UK and Ireland. They operate a successful distribution service and would like to appoint an experienced Trading Manager to their highly successful team.

As the trading manager you will join an established team during a period of growth, bringing ambition and creativity, whilst contributing towards a dedicated focus on building the business and delivering first class results.

In your new role as trading manager:

  • This is very much a strategic role
  • Liaise with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing and Customer Support to ensure key KPI's can be achieved, and business opportunities are maximised
  • Accountable for gathering essential data relating to products and in particular the demand and supply requirements (This data is recorded on spreadsheets so you will need to be highly competent in spreadsheet development and interrogation)
  • Use data gathered from other teams to make essential decisions that directly affect the correct presence and pricing of goods in stores
  • Liaise directly with, and present to, existing brand owners / customers on planned strategies and new price promotions etc
  • Provide accurate forecasts ensuring there is no gap in supply
  • Responsible for purchasing, implementing and executing business plans
  • Negotiate competitive pricing for both existing and new products
  • Dealing with any queries and ensuring an efficient and productive process
  • Managing Supplier performance to ensure a dynamic and collaborate way of working as well as supporting internal departments in achieving KPI's
  • Responsible for all allocated supplier purchasing, making sure product is available when required, minimising wastage and reducing cost, therefore, maximising profit for the organisation
  • Data analysis in order to identify market trends, opportunities and risks, applying corrective action when required
  • Lead various projects across multiple functions, benefitting all parties involved
  • Continuous improvements: review current ways of working and apply critical thinking, making recommendations to increase efficiency

What you will need to succeed:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in customer account management within the FMCG / food industry
  • A minimum of 1 year experience within strategic buying in the FMCG / Food industry
  • Experience of managing a budget, monthly forecasting at volume / monitoring performance against set targets and budgets / financial modelling with internal and external stakeholders
