Inside Ireland’s €600m Construction Surge Starting in Early 2026

​As Ireland continues to scale its national housing and infrastructure capacity, Q1 2026 is set to mark one of the most active construction periods in recent years. Several major residential and civil engineering projects, together worth more than €600 million, are scheduled to break ground, creating significant opportunities across the built environment sector.

An Droichead Órga - €125m

This Dublin 8 mixed-use development includes 578 apartments across 7 storeys, creche, library & community hub

Construction is due to start in February 2026 and last 2 years. The project will be built to NZEB standards,

Contracts have been awarded to Elliott Group, DBFL & Mitchell McDermott among others.

Donore - €111m

This Dublin 8 development will consist of 543 apartments across 2 seven-storey blocks, creche, ground floor car parking and fitness facility

Construction due to continue to January 2027.

Contract has been awarded to John Paul Construction & KSN Project Management.

Wexford Town - €90m

Wexford is expanding with a large development of 175 houses and 238 apartments, creche and large parking facilities.

Construction is due to kick off in January 2026 and last until July 2028.

Civil Engineering -

Dublin Airport Underpass - €265m

Following the opening of the North Runway, Dublin Airport is focusing on their infrastructure by adding a large underpass to improve vehicle access.

This project includes a 1.1km underground twin-cell tunnel, 17.5m below ground.

Construction is due to start in January 2026 and due to complete in August 2030.

Contract has been awarded to Wills Bros Sacyr JV.

Dundalk, Dublin Road, Active Travel Scheme - €14m

This project involved upgrades to the 4km route along the R132 Dundalk Inner Relief Road. Upgrades include cycle tracks, widened footpaths, junction upgrades and pedestrian crossings

Construction is due to kick off in February 2026 and will last until May 2027.

Contract yet to be awarded.
