Job description
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading facilities and support services provider on the appointment of an Environmental & Sustainability Officer.
As Environmental & Sustainability Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining compliance with legislation, permits and consents, while driving improvements in the company's Environmental Management System. You will also support wider sustainability initiatives and provide technical input across waste, energy, biodiversity and carbon management.

In your new role:
- Maintain and continually develop the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
- Coordinate and support Environmental Working Groups across the business
- Monitor, review and ensure compliance with all environmental permits, consents and legal obligations
- Deploy an effective internal audit and inspection programme and support external/third-party audits
- Maintain systems for tracking and reporting environmental performance metrics
- Lead on waste, water, air, energy and sustainability improvement projects
- Evaluate environmental performance of contractors and ensure compliance with company standards
- Deliver training, awareness and communication on environmental and sustainability issues
- Support incident investigations, reporting and root cause analysis with preventive actions
- Act as part of the emergency response team and contribute to business-wide HSEQ initiatives
What you will need to succeed:
- Degree in Environmental, Sustainability or a related discipline
- 2+ years' experience in an Environmental/Sustainability role
- Working knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001)
- Understanding of sustainability and ESG within business/industry
- IT literate, with proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Full, clean driving licence
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- Membership of a relevant professional body (IEMA, CIWEM, etc.)
- Environmental or EMS Auditor certification
- NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
- Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to deliver environmental improvement initiatives and auditing
