Job description

Vickerstock is in search of a graduate or a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our client's committed team, contributing expertise and mentorship to the younger staff across their business.

As a Quantity Surveyor, your role will be pivotal in our projects, ensuring the effective and economical management of resources, materials, and finances. You will be an essential part of our growth-focused company, offering the chance to significantly influence our ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and evaluate project cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Monitor project costs and expenditures to ensure adherence to budgets.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient cost control.
  • Conduct cost analysis, risk assessments, and value engineering.
  • Prepare and review tender documents, contracts, and variations.
  • Assist in the procurement process, engaging in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Provide precise and timely financial reporting to project stakeholders.
  • Assist in resolving contractual and commercial issues.
  • Continuously assess and manage project risks related to costs.

Qualifications:

  • Studying a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry desirable
  • Profound understanding of construction costs, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction contracts and legal requirements.
  • Proficiency in the use of industry-standard quantity surveying software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
