Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a national residential construction firm on the appointment of a Health & Safety Graduate.

This is an exciting, site-based graduate opportunity, where you will gain invaluable experience as part of a professional Health & Safety team.

In your new role:

  • Work as part of the construction management team to help ensure a safe and productive work environment
  • Support the continuous improvement of Health & Safety standards, both within the management system and on-site
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with the company's Health & Safety Management System
  • Identify site-specific hazards and ensure they are captured within documentation and addressed practically on site
  • Maintain site folders and statutory records, ensuring they are up to date and accurate
  • Assist site management in meeting statutory Health & Safety requirements
  • Support the development and implementation of risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Assist with contractor compliance monitoring and coordination of safe working practices
  • Carry out Health & Safety site audits and support site management in addressing any non-conformances
  • Contribute to accident and incident investigations, helping to identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of toolbox talks and safety communications

What you will need to succeed:

  • A 3rd level qualification in Health & Safety (or a related discipline)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to present clear findings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical and accurate approach
  • A team player with the ability to engage confidently with people at all levels
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative
  • Willingness to take responsibility for designated tasks and contribute proactively to site safety

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Previous work experience in a Health & Safety related role (e.g. placement or site experience)
  • Experience delivering or contributing to training or toolbox talks
