Role: Health and Safety Officer

Location: Residential Construction Sites in Galway
Reporting To: Health and Safety Manager

Key Responsibilities

As a Health and Safety Officer, you will be integral to the construction management team, ensuring a safe and productive work environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing the company's Health & Safety Management System on residential construction sites.
  • Monitoring and enforcing safety standards and statutory compliance.
  • Identifying and addressing site-specific hazards.
  • Maintaining communication with the Health & Safety Manager.
  • Ensuring site folders and statutory records are up to date.
  • Enforcing site rules and contractor compliance.
  • Conducting H&S audits and addressing non-conformances.
  • Contributing to accident and incident investigations.
  • Developing and delivering Tool Box talks.
  • Identifying training needs for site personnel and contractors.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in managing safety systems in construction.
  • Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Membership of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) preferred.
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage on-site safety independently.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with stakeholders and statutory bodies.
  • Strong risk management and control measure implementation skills.
  • Experience in chairing and delivering Health and Safety meetings and presentations.
