Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading firm in the agri-business industry on the appointment of a Health & Safety Officer.

As a Health & Safety Officer, you will support the business in improving Health & Safety performance, drive a culture of continuous improvement and ensure legislative compliance.

In your new role:

  • Develop and implement the company's Health and Safety management system across multiple sites and departments in NI, ROI, and GB, incl. creation of risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and related policies and procedures
  • Prepare Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) for non-routine activities
  • Review and update Health and Safety documentation proactively and as needed
  • Deliver Health and Safety inductions for new employees and ensure completion of job-specific training
  • Conduct investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, liaising with relevant external bodies such as the HSE and insurers
  • Manage Health and Safety compliance on construction projects carried out by the internal construction team, ensuring full adherence to CDM regulations
  • Ensure all Health and Safety legislative requirements are met and maintained
  • Conduct internal Health, Safety, and Environmental inspections across all company locations, addressing minor to moderate issues and escalating major findings to company directors
  • Delegate tasks to relevant internal teams to address hazards and maintain a safe working environment
  • Monitor the maintenance, certification, and thorough examination of machinery, equipment, and plant
  • Assess employee compliance with Health and Safety procedures

What you will need to succeed:

  • Experience within a similar H&S role
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH)
  • Understanding of HSE legislation and regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)
  • Full clean driving license

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • IOSH Membership
  • NEBOSH Diploma or Degree
  • Experience within either Construction, Engineering or Agricultural industries
