Job description
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading construction firm on the appointment of an HSE Manager.
As HSE Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of H&S policies, provide guidance and coaching to operational teams, and ensure all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with ISO and legislative standards.
In your new role:
- Lead, develop, and continually enhance Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and practices
- Ensure adherence to HSE legislation, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and internal company requirements
- Carry out risk evaluations, workplace inspections, and incident analyses
- Advocate for employee wellbeing, mental health programs, and foster a proactive safety culture
- Deliver professional advice on HSE, environmental management, and operational compliance matters
- Manage contractor performance and enforce robust subcontractor management procedures
- Keep accurate HSE documentation, compile reports, and ensure all regulatory obligations are fulfilled
- Engage in management forums, contributing to organization-wide strategic and operational planning
- Support ongoing improvement initiatives and sustainability or corporate responsibility programs
What you will need to succeed:
- 3+ years' experience in a Construction H&S Management role
- Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH)
- In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and ISO management standards
- Good communication and influencing skills
- IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)
- Full driving license
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- Experience within the maintenance or public sector construction projects
- NEBOSH Diploma / Degree in Safety or related discipline
- IOSH Membership
- Experience working across multiple sites operations
