Vickerstock are delighted to be recruitment partners with our client where innovation is at the heart of the company on the appointment of Product Quality & Specifications Lead Our market leading client serve a wide range of retailer top quality beef and lamb.
As the successful Product Quality & Specification Lead you will be responsible for the completion, maintenance and continuous improvement of Customer specifications, on-line butchery & specifications and development and implementation of Product Quality Standards and assessment and measurement of product quality within the Primal Division.
What your typical day will look like:
- Ensure that specifications including on-line customer specifications, and other systems are accurate.
- Be involved with the specification sign off process to ensure all legalities and customer requirements are adhered to, and that all department managers approve all specifications prior to launch in a timely manner.
- Liaise with management, production staff and customers on a regular basis with regards to product specifications including product butchery and quality.
- Complete annual reviews on all specifications and review Customers Specifications when required.
- Create and maintain Quality Contracts, Visual Aids & Quality Attribute Standards, and subsequent processing documentation such as recipe sheets and product information databases.
- Attend all Production/NPD Factory Trials and provide technical input into the success of these.
- Assist in preparation and take part in customer visits, audits and NPD presentations.
- Build relationships with customers around product quality and specification management.
- Take responsibility in investigating customer complaints in relation to product quality and give feedback where there is potential for continuous improvement.
- Travel to and attend meetings with customers including other sites.
- Communication with management and customers should be accurate and professional at all times in both written and verbal communications.
- Participation in a Customer Complaint Reduction Plan
What you will need to succeed:
- Educated to degree level in Food Technology/Food Nutrition or related discipline.
- At least 2 years' experience within the Food Industry
- Previous experience of working with customers and particular UK retailers
- Strong IT skills and working experience of all the Microsoft applications.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead with authority, whilst maintaining good relations with colleagues across business functions
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
- Self-driven and an ability to work on own initiative.
- Proactive approach to problem solving.
- Drive to learn new things and enthusiasm to progress.
- To be flexible to work evenings if and when required.
Desirable Criteria (it would be great if you have these but don't worry if you don't!):
- Previous knowledge of specification systems
- Red Meat knowledge.
- Working knowledge of product specifications with at least 1 years experience
