Job description

Production Manager

Newry & Mourne | Food Manufacturing

Vickerstock is partnering a successful food manufacturing business to appoint a Production Manager for their Newry & Mourne facility.

This is a highly operational role, suited to a Production Manager who enjoys being visible on the factory floor, leading from the front, and taking direct ownership of daily performance; keeping production running smoothly, supporting teams in real time, and driving practical improvements within a busy manufacturing environment.

What's on offer:

  • Salary up to £50,000
  • A stable, established site with ongoing investment
  • Autonomy to manage production in a hands-on, practical way

Your day to day:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will have full responsibility for day-to-day production activity across the site. Your focus will be on ensuring plans are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards, while maintaining strong visibility on the shop floor.

  • Being a consistent presence on the factory floor, supporting supervisors and operators and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Managing production teams across shifts, including labour planning, attendance, performance, and training.
  • Ensuring production targets are met through effective control of output, downtime, waste, and yield.
  • Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, quality, and health & safety at all times.
  • Working closely with engineering to minimise downtime and address recurring equipment or process issues.
  • Supporting and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that deliver practical, measurable results.
  • Driving a culture of accountability, safety, and right-first-time production.

Your essential ingredients:

  • Proven experience in a production management within a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Strong operational knowledge of factory processes, KPIs, and day-to-day production control.
  • Solid understanding of food safety and quality standards such as BRC, HACCP, or equivalent.
  • A practical, sleeves-rolled-up leadership style with the confidence to make decisions on the floor.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage teams at all levels of the operation.
