Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with an industry leading design and manufacturing firm based in Bangor on the appointment of an experienced Production Planner.

In your new role:

  • You will be responsible for planning and scheduling the demand for the relevant department

  • Identify & resolve any conflicts within the schedule, materials, or labour, to ensure the smooth day to day running of the production line

  • Maintain target inventory levels and generate options to resolve low/ high stock conditions

  • Develop and maintain key working relationships with all relevant departments within the business

  • Communicate, control, and manage short term capacity changes

  • Communicate the production plan to the relevant personnel

  • Closely manage production and analyse compared to plan

  • Ensure you have a solid understanding of current factory processes

  • Proactively work to evaluate and supply short term changes in demand

  • Close jobs on a daily basis, resolving any issues with materials

  • Maintain all data and calendars for the scheduling system

  • Monitor data in all planning systems and amend/identify issues

  • Identify system improvements to help improve performance

  • Ensure scheduling system updated on time

  • Implement material changes in order to to minimise material write off

  • Control new materials introduction, including availability of trial quantities

  • Identify material standardisation opportunities

  • Coordinate the use of potentially obsolete raw materials.

  • Manage run in/ run out of materials as required to minimise costs

What you will need to succeed:

  • A minimum of 18 months experience working in a Production Planning / Scheduling role within a manufacturing environment

  • A good understanding of the Production Process

  • Experience in using MRP System and highly proficient in all Microsoft Office packages
