Job description

At Vickerstock, we are delighted to be working with a leading main contractor in the UK to recruit for the position of Project Manager. With a number of specialist divisions including Construction, Civil Engineering and Fit Out, this organisation has the capability and expertise to deliver highly complex projects across the full built environment spectrum. Founded in Northern Ireland, this local success story is now one of the UK's largest contractors and continues to go from strength to strength, working on projects throughout the UK and Ireland. This particular role is based in London; however, your first project will be a major design and build scheme in Putney.

Your new role as Project Manager

As Project Manager, you will become a valued member of the construction team. You are accountable for every aspect of the project, including leading a team capable of meeting client expectations. It is your responsibility to ensure that all relevant project correspondence and contractual notices have been wrote and sent to all relevant parties. You will provide guidance, instruction and leadership to the Project Quantity Surveyor as needed using your own personal expertise and technical knowledge. You will attend, chair and lead meetings including subcontractor pre-start, handover meetings and progress and coordination meetings. As Project Manager, you will fulfil the role of Design Manager and ensure design function responsibilities are compiled and agreed.

What you will need to succeed as Project Manager (but don't worry you will still be considered if you don't have some/all of these)

  • Good construction experience working in a similar role on high value projects
  • Experience working in design and build
  • Experience in managing subcontractors in line with health and safety and environmental legislation (First Aid at Work)

What's in it for you?

  • A competitive salary
  • 33 days Annual Leave - increasing after 5-years
  • Life assurance - 4 x salary
  • Pension - 6% employer contribution
  • Employee Assistance Programme
