Vickerstock is proud to be working in partnership with an innovative and diverse Food Production Client on the appointment of Quality Assurance Assistant on their site in Armagh. They are passionate about quality and are committed to supplying premium products that are fresh and locally sourced.

Reporting to the Technical Manager your role will incorporate all technical aspects from packhouse, NPD and through to customer. This role may involve travelling to other sites, candidate must have own means of transport.

What your typical day will look like as Quality Assurance Assistant:

  • BRC Audits and customer visits - preparation for and participating as required.
  • Conducting regular traceability audits
  • Product quality and understanding customer expectations (working with production / QA / supplier farms to improve and drive quality)
  • Complaints - manage (investigate) and follow through (reporting)
  • Corrective action/root cause analysis - proactive approach to and assisting with follow up and reporting.
  • Documenting and issuing of packing specifications and updating customer technical libraries as required.
  • Ensuring labelling machines are set up correctly, and training of associated records/packing specifications to relevant operators.
  • Working directly with packhouse QC team (identify training needs and problem solving)
  • Packhouse staff inductions / Training on new procedures etc.
  • Preparation and submission of product, water and swabs for laboratory testing to schedule.
  • Updating of company policies, procedures and records as required
  • HACCP team member
  • Training in procedures and working with staff to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring internal audits conducted to schedule.
  • Ensure GMP across site.
  • Any other associated duties in line with the Quality Manual, including Supplier Approvals, customer requests and regular reporting.

What you will need to secure your new role:

  • Experience working in Food Manufacturing/Production
  • Experience/knowledge in retail standards / requirements such as Tesco, Aldi, Lidl
  • Knowledge of BRC Standards would be ideal
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with great communication skills.
  • Ability to write and maintain documentation.
  • Proactive, self-motivated with good time management.
