Job description

Vickerstock is excited to be working in partnership with their Food Manufacturing client who produce a wide range of specialised products within their field who are seeking a Quality Manager for a 12-month contract.

The successful Quality Manager will be based across two sites in County Tyrone and will implement and maintain the QMS ensuring all products meet customer and legal requirements and will be responsible for day to day quality issues.

What your day to day will look like as Quality Manager:

  • Responsible for aiding in the writing, implementing and maintaining all quality systems and procedures ensuring compliance to UFAS, GMP, DAERA and Customer Standards.

  • Responsible for day-to-day quality issues and resolving any process anomalies.

  • Responsible for managing a Quality Assistant in ensuring they are working to the correct procedures.

  • Responsible for supplier approval system of raw materials and packaging suppliers (this includes reporting all anomalies to the Management / Procurement team).

  • Responsible for leading the HACCP Team, aiding with annual reviews and compliance audits for all products manufactured on site are carried out. Also responsible for ensuring all corrective actions are changes to processes are implemented and monitored.

  • Responsible for ensuring all work practices, procedures and documentation within the factory complies with Feed Legislation and GMP Legislation.

  • Responsible for monitoring the auditing of Factory Hygiene and Cleaning Systems to establish their level of compliance with documented schedules and define standards of cleanliness.

  • Responsible for monitoring product for conformance with defined microbiological and compositional standards at all stages in the manufacturing process by way of assisting in designing and maintaining representative QC sampling plans.

  • Responsible for writing, implementing and monitoring a complete site training programme for all personnel to achieve an acceptable standard of compliance in all areas/ stages of manufacture.

  • Responsible for supporting with all Quality Staff issues to include Disciplinary, Appraisals, and Enhancement etc.

  • Responsible for presenting Quality Systems at audits with Customers and Government Bodies.

  • Responsible for coordinating all customer complaints including completing correspondence, actioning issues and ensuring that these are resolved and carrying out trends

  • Responsible for monitoring Pest Control contract and ensuring corrective actions are implemented when anomalies are reported.

  • Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of the factory fabrication.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all product labels are compliant to relevant legislation and updating relevant artwork when necessary

  • Responsible for aiding in the writing, implementing and maintaining all Master Bill of Materials (BOMs)

What you will need to succeed:

  • 3rd Level qualification with a minimum of 1 years' experience in food / feed safety role, either quality or technical.

  • Experience of audits, BRC, UFAS, DAERA, customer audits and an understanding of Quality Management Systems

  • Collaborative approach

Desirable Criteria (it would be great if you have these but don't worry if you don't!)

  • Degree in Food Science / Food Technology.

  • 2+ year in FMCG / Food Manufacturing environment / Feed Manufacturing environment

  • External training certificates - HACCP Level 3, Hygiene Level 4 and internal auditing.
