Salary: £35,000

Immediate start.

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a heavy engineering firm who design, fabricate & assemble on the appointment of an experienced Buyer/Planner.

You will manage the purchase to pay process to ensure all materials required are available to satisfy manufacturing requirements whilst ensuring compliance with procurement policies, ensuring the companies strategic goals and customer needs are met.

In your new role:

  • Plan daily activities using ERP system
  • Ensure all Purchase Orders required for Production, Assembly and Install Manufacturing are available when required and delivered to the correct locations in line with the production and project planning manufacturing planning schedule
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing reports, records, and updated price lists
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support Procurement Project Lead to ensure overall project on time delivery
  • Ensure jobs are planned through the various processes to maximise resource utilisation
  • Communicate the plan to the necessary teams
  • Review work centre capacities on a regular basis and inform the relevant depts of any utilisation concerns
  • Highlight potential delays as soon as identified
  • Produce daily, weekly and monthly reports in line with the plan
  • Monitor and communicate supplier efficiency in full deliveries, ensuring minimum of 95% (on time in full) delivery with key suppliers.
  • Ensure IFS compliance/adherence of all procurement related tasks, particularly updating purchase order delivery dates in a timely manner to allow for real-time reporting.
  • Monitor and action MRP messages. Raise appropriate SCRs when procurement project team not available
  • Actively maintain correct standard purchase part inventory in compliance with company policy. Including updating min/max and reordering quantity implementing strategy set by business.
  • Actively action and close out assigned NCRs.
  • Attend meetings to represent procurement scheduling team on time delivery and report progress
  • Investigate and initiate reported issues with on time delivery, missing parts, stock out parts, part duplication or any other issues disrupting supply chain flow
  • Apply the minimum quality and environmental standards required under ISO 9001 and 14001 and the company Quality and Environmental standards
  • Support procurement project scheduling and expediting.
  • Clear supplier invoices ensure no blockage to pay based on correct PODs and receipts

What you will need to succeed:

  • Educated to degree level in a business-related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a purchasing buyer/planner function in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working with a modern ERP/MRP 2 system

Desirable: (It would be great if you have this but don't worry if you don't)

  • Part CIPS qualified or similar
  • Experience with IFS system
  • Full clean driving licence
