Project (Civil) Engineer - Dublin or Limerick

A well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy with a long-standing presence in Ireland is seeking an ambitious and self-driven Project (Civil) Engineer to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of high-quality projects across Ireland, based in either Dublin or Limerick.

The Role

The successful candidate will hold a Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (a Master's may be required for Chartered status) and will be a Chartered Member of Engineers Ireland. Typically, this role suits engineers with 4-10 years' experience, depending on skills and career progression to date.

You will bring proven experience delivering civil engineering projects across multiple sectors, including residential, healthcare, education, and sports infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Working as part of a collaborative engineering team and under the guidance of senior staff, your responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with clients, as directed by the Project Manager, to deliver reports, designs, and associated outputs

  • Reviewing work prepared by Graduate, Design, and Project Engineers

  • Preparing and reviewing preliminary designs, reports, detailed drawings, and specifications

  • Completing site development designs

  • Designing surface water drainage systems in accordance with SuDS, including greenfield runoff calculations, soakaways, and attenuation tanks

  • Designing foul sewer and watermain networks in line with Irish Water Codes of Practice

  • Liaising with Irish Water through pre-connection enquiries, applications, and diversions

  • Coordinating technical delivery across projects to meet agreed timelines

  • Undertaking property inspections and preparing detailed engineering reports

  • Preparing Designers' Risk Assessments and preliminary inspection plans

  • Carrying out BCAR inspections

  • Procuring site investigations and civil engineering contracts, including preparation of pricing schedules and Bills of Quantities

  • Assisting with tender documentation, assessments, and contract administration

  • Liaising with local authorities on feasibility matters such as drainage, traffic, and flooding

  • Taking instruction from line management and senior project team members

Skills & Experience Required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing abilities

  • Experience with statutory applications (planning permission, FSCs, DACs, commencement notices, etc.)

  • Experience conducting condition surveys and building regulations compliance surveys

  • Proven experience delivering commercial and residential developments from inception to handover

  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and Technical Guidance Documents

  • In-depth understanding of drainage design, SuDS, and Irish Water requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project

  • Knowledge of public procurement procedures and thresholds

  • Familiarity with construction contracts, including PW-CF / PW-MF and RIAI forms
