Employer's Representative - Infrastructure Projects | Border Counties (Ireland)
Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading, multidisciplinary consultancy to recruit an Employer's Representative to support the delivery of infrastructure projects across the Border Counties, with a particular focus on Monaghan, Donegal and Cavan.
This is a senior-level appointment and would suit an experienced professional with 10+ years' industry experience and a proven background acting as Employer's Representative on civil or infrastructure schemes. The role offers long-term project stability, autonomy, and the opportunity to represent the client's interests on critical public-sector infrastructure works.
Your new role as Employer's Representative
As Employer's Representative, you will act as the key client-facing figure on site and across project teams, ensuring projects are delivered in line with contractual, technical, programme, and commercial requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as Employer's Representative under contract, representing the client's interests throughout project delivery.
- Overseeing infrastructure projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
- Managing contracts, change control, and communications in accordance with agreed forms of contract.
- Monitoring contractor performance in relation to programme, quality, safety, and cost.
- Chairing progress meetings and coordinating between contractors, designers, stakeholders, and statutory bodies.
- Reviewing and approving technical submissions, programmes, and payment applications.
- Managing risk registers, reporting on progress, and escalating issues where required.
- Ensuring projects are delivered in compliance with statutory, environmental, and health safety obligations.
What you'll need to succeed as Employer's Representative
To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate:
- Significant experience acting as Employer's Representative on civil or infrastructure projects (essential).
- 10+ years' experience within civil engineering, infrastructure delivery, or project management.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and public-sector project delivery.
- Experience working on infrastructure schemes such as roads, water, utilities, or public works.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple site interfaces across geographically dispersed projects.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel across the Border Counties as required.
- Chartered status or a relevant professional qualification would be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate.
What's in it for you?
In return, you'll receive a competitive package and the opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of essential infrastructure across the region, including:
- Competitive salary, commensurate with seniority and experience.
- Long-term, stable project pipeline across the Border Counties.
- High level of autonomy and responsibility.
- Opportunity to work on meaningful public infrastructure projects.
- Flexible working arrangements where project demands allow.
