Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading organisation on the appointment of an Environmental Compliance Advisor.

As an Environmental Compliance Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring group-wide compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and licences, while also supporting the wider sustainability and SHEQ agenda across the business.

In your new role:

  • Maintaining day-to-day compliance of all environmental licences, permits and consents across Group operations

  • Completing scheduled environmental compliance audits, ensuring controls are implemented, maintained, and documented effectively

  • Managing in-house and external sampling regimes for water safety in line with consents, reporting on compliance and escalating non-conformances

  • Supporting depot teams with preventive maintenance compliance checks

  • Overseeing the waste contractor database, ensuring all licences, permits, and authorisations are current and communicated

  • Completing quarterly and annual waste and packaging data returns

  • Managing ISCC audit requirements for waste oils including documentation, sustainability declarations, and waste classifications

  • Reviewing and issuing permits to work for contractors, ensuring compliance documentation is provided

  • Assisting with incident investigations including spills and environmental breaches, maintaining accurate records and weekly reports

  • Responding to customer queries and maintaining online compliance systems

  • Supporting the Group H&S Manager and Compliance Team in promoting sustainability projects and environmental campaigns

What you will need to succeed:

  • Environmental Management qualification and/or accreditation to CIWM/IEMA

  • Experience in waste compliance, licensing, permits, and auditing

  • Competency with MS Office and environmental compliance systems

  • Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to engage effectively with teams and contractors

  • Flexibility to travel between sites across Northern Ireland

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent

  • WAMITAB Level 4 Operator Competency (or willingness to achieve in role)

  • Experience delivering training sessions
