Job description
Vickerstock are delighted to be recruitment partners with our Food Manufacturing client who believe passion & enthusiasm is the key to success on the appointment of NPD Project Manager for their Newry based site. They are dedicated to being the leading food-to-go manufacturer in the UK and Ireland producing a range of chilled, hot, frozen and bakery products.
Reporting to the Site NPD Manager you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of product development, working in harmony with all other internal and external functions to ensure costs, timescales efficiency and quality are met for each project.
What your typical day will look like:
- Interpret customer briefs and present to internal & external stakeholder teams on concepts.
- Work with site operational, procurement and commercial team prior to trialling on costings and feasibility of new products.
- Plan and execute factory trials in with the production team and deliver off line factory samples in a timely manner through development of NPD & EPD products. Ensuring all relevant information is collected and documented accurately; appropriate organoleptic & microbiological analysis, Completion of Quality Attribute Sheets are formed from factory trials and that the product is costed accurately.
- Take on board outputs from customer meetings and feedback to site teams & take relevant action in a timely manner.
- Ensure products developed are fit for purpose, and the best they can possibly be.
- Feed information into the NPD process so critical paths are delivered in a timely manner.
- Keep abreast of legislative requirements and culinary trends to safeguard that all products are developed with future proofing in mind in terms of attributes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and the raw material ingredient and packaging suppliers.
What you will need to succeed:
- Proven involvement and/or ownership of launched product into market.
- Relevant third level qualification, food science preferred.
- Able to handle customers and suppliers with confidence, building lasting working relationships.
- Ability to work as part of a team, including cross-functional departments.
- Good organisation skills and attention to detail, with ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Able to demonstrate professionalism in all forms of communication.
