Vickerstock are once again delighted to be working in partnership with our hugely progressive Food Manufacturing client, focused on delivering best in class standards and performance, with the appointment of a Production Supervisor for their Cookstown based facility

***shift pattern would be on a 3 on 3 off days 7am-7pm & nights 7pm-7am basis***


A typical day as Production Supervisor:
As a key member of the production and technical team, the successful Production Supervisor will take responsibility for delivering best in class manufacturing performance to include unit cost quality, waste, service and compliance.

  • Deliver first class product within specification and to customer requirements within hygiene controls.
  • Monitor quality through the packing lines to identify and address variances
  • Manage food safety and quality assurance issues in conjunction with the Technical team
  • Create an improvement agenda with ownership accepted and practiced across the workforce, benchmark against best in class, investigate new methods and technologies.
  • Monitor performance trends and initiate team-based improvement activities and corrective actions, deliver lean and PIP improvement projects
  • Optimise plant performance by ensuring all plant and equipment is properly operated, maintained and cleaned to minimise downtime.
  • Adhere to production schedule to deliver and maximise efficient customer fulfilment.
  • Minimise packaging usage and stock holding levels and drive down wastage.
  • Implement a zero-tolerance approach to having a tidy, safe and clean working environment
  • Focus in on understanding all cost drivers and work to eradicate errors, waste, downtime, overtime and high stocks where costs can develop
  • Train, mentor and develop team members - implement work instructions for all jobs and build a trained and flexible workforce.
  • Develop and maintain the necessary systems, procedures, training and working practices to deliver best practice and meet the requirements of site management, group policies, accreditation bodies, customer requirements and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure site is audit ready at all times.
  • Carry out trials and R&D work on site in consultation with the NPD Manager
  • Develop continuous improvement Quality and Health & Safety culture
  • Achieve management targets and objectives

Your essential ingredients:

  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant food manufacturing experience.
  • Proven experience of leading and managing a team
  • Successful track record of developing a lean culture and delivering process improvements.
  • Strong technical skill set and a track record of delivery against quality / food safety requirements,
  • Ability to effectively communicate to a range of internal and external stakeholders


Desirable

  • 3rd level qualification in food science or technical discipline
  • 5 years' similar experience within a processing plant
  • H&S experience/responsibilities
