Job description

3D Modeller / Visualiser (Civil Engineering) | Northern Ireland
Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with a forward-thinking engineering consultancy who are seeking to appoint a 3D Modeller / Visualiser (Civil Engineering) to join their growing digital delivery team in Northern Ireland.

This is a specialist role sitting at the intersection of civil engineering, construction methodology, animation, and real-time visualisation. The position has been created to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects by helping project teams and clients better understand construction sequencing, temporary works, logistics, and risk through advanced digital visual tools.

This opportunity will particularly appeal to candidates with a background in animation, gaming, simulation, or digital engineering who are keen to apply those skills to real-world civil engineering and infrastructure challenges.

Your new role as 3D Modeller / Visualiser (Civil Engineering)
As a 3D Modeller / Visualiser, you will work closely with engineers, BIM specialists, and digital leads to develop clear, technically accurate visual outputs that support project planning and decision-making. Rather than producing polished marketing visuals, the focus of this role is on practical, engineering-led visualisation, helping teams understand how projects are built.
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing animated construction sequences to demonstrate methodology, phasing, and sequencing.
  • Visualising temporary works installation and removal processes.
  • Developing logistics, access, and haul route visualisations for constrained construction environments.
  • Creating interactive walk-throughs, fly-throughs, and scenario testing using real-time engines.
  • Working with engineering and BIM data from tools such as Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, and IFC models.
  • Translating complex technical and construction information into clear, engaging visual narratives.
  • Collaborating closely with civil engineers and digital teams to support project planning, risk reduction, and stakeholder engagement.

What you'll need to succeed as a 3D Modeller / Visualiser (Civil Engineering)
To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate:

  • Experience using 3DS Max (preferred) or similar DCC tools such as Blender, Maya, or Cinema 4D.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine (preferred) or Unity for real-time and interactive outputs.
  • An understanding of, or strong interest in, civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with BIM or engineering data, or a clear willingness to develop this skillset.
  • A background in animation, gaming, simulation, or digital visualisation.
  • The ability to take complex technical information and present it clearly and accurately.
  • A hands-on, problem-solving mindset and the confidence to work closely with engineers.
  • Previous experience within the civil engineering or infrastructure sector is highly desirable, though candidates from adjacent industries with relevant technical skills are encouraged to apply.

What's in it for you?
In return, you'll receive a competitive package and the opportunity to work in a genuinely innovative digital engineering role, including:

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • Opportunity to work on complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • A role focused on real engineering challenges, not marketing visuals.
  • Supportive, technically driven environment with strong collaboration between digital and engineering teams.
  • Ongoing professional development and the chance to influence how digital visualisation supports project delivery.
