Vickerstock are working in partnership with a construction business on the appointment of a Buyer. This is a full-time permanent position with an ambitious business with close to 50 year's experience.

As the Buyer, you are responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials and plant throughout across GB and Ireland. Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager you will work with other buyers who operate across three divisions.

In your new role:

• Oversee and approve the procurement process to ensure subcontractors, materials, and plant are sourced with a focus on timely delivery, cost efficiency, and quality.
• Collect and assess all relevant information to prepare detailed enquiry packages aligned with project timelines.
• Evaluate and compare quotations against project budgets, and place orders based on the most advantageous offers.
• Approve supplier invoices for payment processing.
• Continuously expand market knowledge by identifying new suppliers, subcontractors, and opportunities for value engineering.
• Provide support to the Commercial department with tender and post-tender enquiries as needed.
• Assist site teams during construction by supplying material take-offs and relevant supplier information.
• Comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring adherence to all relevant policies and procedures.

What you will need to succeed:

• 3 years' in construction or related industries
• Experience reading technical drawings and specs
• Confident negotiator and communicator
