Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a manufacturing/engineering business on the appointment of a Production Planner on a full-time permanent basis.

As the Production Planner, you will take ownership of the Master Production Schedule, ensuring it is effectively managed, maintained, and continuously aligned with business demands.

In your new role:

  • Work closely with key internal departments to keep production activities on track, proactively identifying potential risks and driving solutions before they impact delivery.
  • Play an active role in production meetings, providing clear updates on capacity, scheduling, and any constraints, helping the wider team make informed decisions.
  • Keep the Head of Production regularly informed on progress, highlighting any issues early and offering practical, solutions-focused recommendations.
  • Use Excel as a key tool to analyse data, support planning, and improve visibility across production performance.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, confidently managing priorities and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to align build sequences with customer demand and business priorities.
  • Generate clear and accurate production documentation for the shop floor to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Develop and maintain a robust database of machine run times to support planning accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing principles across production, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall performance.


Ideal Candidate:

  • 2 years' recent experience in a production planning position
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing sector
  • Lean mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
