Job description

At Vickerstock, we are pleased to be working with one of Northern Ireland's main contractors to recruit for the position of Project Manager (Civils). With a number of specialist divisions including Construction, Civil Engineering and Fit Out, this organisation has the capability and expertise to deliver highly complex projects across the full built environment spectrum. With offices across the UK and Ireland, this local success story is now one of the UK's largest contractors and continues to grow. You will become a valued member of the Civil Engineering site team. This particular role will be located in Edinburgh. The first project you are working on will be civil refurbishment, involving blasting, structural repairs, and painting of a main structure frame, along with groundworks and environmental improvements.

Your new role as Project Manager (Civils)

In this role, you will be required to manage the engineering and the design/installation process of the project. It is your responsibility to produce, implement and improve inspection and test plans (ITPs), keeping accurate and up to date records. As Project Manager, you will attend and chair , when appropriate, Client meetings, Design meetings, meetings with specialist contractors and other team members. You are responsible for providing expertise in planning and executing the commissioning of materials handling equipment. You must ensure the Contracts Manager, Quantity Surveyor and Client are kept appraised of any variations to the works with commercial or contractual variations.

What you will need to succeed as Project Manager (Civils) (it would be great if you have these but don't worry if not)

  • Good construction experience working in a similar role
  • Experience working as a Site Agent on major Civil Engineering projects
  • Experience in managing subcontractors in line with health and safety and environmental legislation (First Aid at Work)
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK
  • Qualification in Project Management
  • It would be ideal if you are Chartered or working towards Chartership
