Job description
Civil Engineer (Water / Wastewater) | Cork
Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with an established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to recruit a Project Engineer (Water / Wastewater) for their growing Cork office.
This is a key appointment within a developing regional team, supporting the delivery of a strong pipeline of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the Munster region. While the local office is relatively new, the business is well established, with deep technical support and governance provided by a wider, experienced engineering team.
The role would suit a civil engineer with a minimum of five years' experience in the water sector who is looking to take greater ownership of projects while continuing to develop technically and professionally.
Your new role as Civil Engineer (Water / Wastewater)
As Project Engineer, you will play an active role in the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, working as part of a multidisciplinary team from feasibility through to construction.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering civil engineering design on water and wastewater projects, including networks, treatment works, and associated infrastructure.
- Supporting project delivery across all stages, from outline and detailed design through to construction and handover.
- Preparing and reviewing design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Coordinating with internal disciplines and external stakeholders, including clients and statutory bodies.
- Supporting construction-stage activities, including technical queries, site inspections, and contractor liaison.
- Assisting senior engineers and technical leads with programme, quality, and risk management.
- Contributing to the development of the Cork office through strong technical delivery and collaboration with the wider business.
What you'll need to succeed as Civil Engineer (Water / Wastewater)
To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate:
- A degree (or Master's) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working within a civil engineering consultancy, ideally in the water or wastewater sector.
- Experience delivering projects for water utility or public-sector clients.
- Strong technical capability in civil infrastructure design.
- Familiarity with Irish standards and approval processes.
- Progression toward Chartered Engineer status, or a clear intent to achieve chartership.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
What's in it for you?
In return, you'll receive a competitive package and the opportunity to play a meaningful role in the growth of a regional office backed by an established consultancy, including:
- Salary of €50,000 - €60,000, dependent on experience.
- Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
- Opportunity to work on a strong pipeline of water and wastewater projects across Munster.
- Support from an experienced senior engineering team.
- Clear professional development and chartership support.
- Long-term career prospects within a growing Irish operation.
