Quality Manager | County Down | circa £30-34k

Vickerstock are partnering with a UK leading food producer with the appointment of a Quality Manager to help them achieve their ambitious growth plans for their County Down based facility.

What we have to offer you:

  • Salary circa £30-34k depending on experience

  • Hour of work:- Monday to Friday 8.30am-5.00pm

A typical day as the successful Quality Manager

  • Update / maintenance of QMS procedures and records

  • Participation with NPD processes (new product trials / launches / HACCP), carry out continuous improvement trials, including trial planning, sampling, and testing

  • Oversee implementation of risk assessments and management of testing schedules across chemistry, microbiology, and authenticity requirements

  • Management of site audit requirements - GMP / Customer Audits / Hygiene and as required - auditing, reports completion, trend analysis and meeting with operations staff to put corrective actions in place

  • Assist with management of supplier approval for packaging, raw materials and service providers

  • Management of internal audit schedule and trending ensuring audits and their actions are completed in a timely manner

  • Management of Non-Compliance, Root Cause Analysis to problem solve and generate effective corrective actions

  • Assist with the management of site pest control and hygiene standards

  • Management of allergen risk assessment and associated procedures

  • TACCP Management and associated tasks

  • HACCP team participation

  • Management and training of QA Team

  • Complete specific procedure and work instruction training as required

  • Deputise in absence of Technical Manager

  • Assist in management of customer complaints process, trending, and reporting

  • Management of site calibration requirements / scheduling

  • Completion of KPI reporting - monthly

  • Assist with legal compliance aspects operationally including packaging development and approval

  • Ensure relevant industry and customer standards are fully implemented and maintained within the business

  • Complete customer specifications using web-based systems (e.g. Micros) and maintain / update as required when changes are necessary

  • Participate with external site visits and audits by customers / third parties or enforcement bodies

  • Deliver site team briefs and communications to workforce on site performance

Your Essential ingredients:

  • 3rd Level qualification in relevant Food Science / Technology discipline

  • Proven supervisory/management experience in a Technical or Quality Assurance role

  • Sound technical auditing skills, experience in HACCP/BRC and Quality Management Systems with

  • Strong problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to pay attention to detail, prioritise, work pro-actively, and accurately

  • Ability to achieve ambitious deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • IT competent in Microsoft Office packages

And it would be great if you have the following however it's not a deal breaker:

  • HACCP/Internal audit or Level 3 Food Safety Certificate

  • Working knowledge of retailer and environmental audits
