Job description

Senior Civil Engineer - Water / Wastewater | Belfast
Vickerstock are delighted to be partnering with a leading international engineering consultancy as they continue to invest in and expand their Belfast operation. With a strong reputation for delivering technically challenging infrastructure programmes across the UK, Ireland and beyond, this organisation sits at the forefront of the water, environmental and energy sectors. As part of ongoing growth, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to play a key role across major water and wastewater frameworks while helping to further establish the local team.

Your new role as a Senior Civil Engineer
As Senior Civil Engineer, you will be a key technical contributor, taking responsibility for the delivery of civil engineering solutions across a broad range of water and wastewater projects. You'll be involved from early optioneering and feasibility through detailed design and into construction support, while also providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers within the Belfast office.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and delivering civil engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, storage assets and pipeline networks
  • Preparing, checking and approving technical outputs including reports, drawings, calculations and specifications
  • Taking ownership of defined work packages, ensuring quality, safety and compliance with industry standards
  • Collaborating closely with account leads and resource managers supporting key clients such as NI Water
  • Working alongside clients, contractors, regulators and multidisciplinary design teams
  • Contributing to sustainable, low-carbon and innovative engineering solutions

What you will need to succeed as a Senior Civil Engineer
To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering (or a closely related discipline)
  • Chartered Engineer status (ICE or equivalent)
  • Proven consultancy experience delivering water or wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical expertise across areas such as hydraulics, drainage, pipelines or treatment infrastructure
  • Experience supervising, managing or mentoring junior engineers
  • The ability to communicate clearly and build strong working relationships with stakeholders

What's on offer
In return, you can expect:

  • A competitive salary in the region of £50,000 - £60,000, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package
  • The opportunity to play a key role in the growth of a Northern Ireland-based water engineering team
  • Long-term, secure workload across major AMP8 frameworks in England, alongside ongoing projects with Uisce Éireann and local utilities
  • Exposure to large-scale, high-profile infrastructure programmes across the UK and Ireland
  • Clear and structured career development, whether your ambition lies in people leadership or technical excellence
