Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading construction and engineering firm on the appointment of a SHEQ Graduate/Officer.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate or early-career professional to develop a career within Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ). You will play a key role in supporting the SHEQ team, contributing to the ongoing delivery and improvement of SHEQ management systems across the organisation.

In your new role:

  • Assist with site inspections and audits across projects in the UK and Ireland, reporting on compliance and recommending improvements
  • Assist with the investigation of incidents, near misses and unsafe occurrences, supporting the development of corrective actions
  • Contribute to the preparation of Health & Safety documentation including Health & Safety Plans, Risk Assessments (RAMS) and COSHH assessments
  • Support the preparation of reports, statistics, and toolbox talks to communicate SHEQ performance across the business
  • Help deliver training and presentations to staff and subcontractors to raise awareness and promote a positive SHEQ culture
  • Assist with subcontractor competence assessments and pre-qualification questionnaires for tenders
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of SHEQ management systems including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
  • Promote Health, Safety and Environmental best practice at all levels of the company and with subcontractors

What you will need to succeed:

  • Previous placement or work experience in a SHEQ-related role (construction or engineering preferred)
  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Knowledge of safety regulations in the UK and Ireland
  • IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, ability to engage stakeholders at all levels

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, or a related discipline.
  • Awareness of ISO management systems (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001)
  • Other relevant Health & Safety certifications
