Job description
Vickerstock are working in partnership with an established and successful distribution business who have identified the need for a Supply Chain & Purchasing Executive on a full-time permanent basis. This position is newly created due to internal movement. The successful candidate will be working alongside another team member to help with the transition. The Supply Chain & Purchasing Executive will report directly to the company director while working in tandem with another executive. You will be responsible for sourcing products and accessories from a global supplier base, manage stock effectively, and will manage relationships with freight forwarding partners to reduce lead times for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively source and procure wooden flooring and associated products from an established international supplier network.
- Build and strengthen supplier relationships, negotiating competitive pricing, payment terms, and reliable delivery schedules.
- Manage end-to-end international shipments, coordinating with freight forwarders, customs agents, and shipping partners to secure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Monitor live shipments, resolving issues around delays, damage, or documentation as they arise.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Warehouse, and Finance to support accurate forecasting and maintain optimal stock levels.
- Maintain accurate purchasing information through the ERP system, including POs, shipment schedules, and supplier records.
- Oversee inventory levels and raise purchase orders in line with demand planning and stock analysis.
- Evaluate and review supplier performance, contributing to audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay informed on market trends, freight rate fluctuations, and regulatory changes impacting international trade.
Required Skills & Experience
- Relevant supply chain or freight forwarding experience (1 year minimum)
- Strong numerical and analytical ability with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP and MS Excel.
- Experience working with freight forwarders or in a customs environment.
- Confident communication and negotiation skills.
