Job description
Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with our Red Meat Manufacturing client who are committed to maintaining the highest level of quality products on the appointment of Technical Manager for their Armagh based site.
As the successful manager you will be primarily responsible for Food Safety and Quality Systems for the site and throughout the supply chain to our customers and consumers.
What your day to day as Technical Manager will look like:
- Effective development, implementation and monitoring of the Food Safety Management system including the HACCP plan, pre-requisite programme and documented SOPs within the business.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, BRC, Bord Bia, Red Tractor and retailer/customer standards.
- To conduct internal audits across the site and communicate the results of internal audits and work with management and supervisors on effective close outs.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles daily in problem solving, root cause analysis and change management.
- Manage external non-conformance and complete complaint investigations to ensure a rigorous approach to the root cause and that corrective and preventative action are put in place in a timely manner
- Collaborate with production and maintenance management to set standards, solve problems and implement corrective actions.
- Lead all audits including BRC, Bord Bia and Veterinary
- Daily Quality Control checks
- Organising and collection of laboratory samples
- Pre-operation hygiene audits
- Ensure the correct Technical Training programs are adhered to on site for all departments.
- Management of consumer compliance for the business ensuring a robust process is in place supported by responsive feedback to the consumer and customer.
What you will need to succeed:
- Minimum recognised 3rd level qualification in a Food Science related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years+ Technical experience in Red Meat Manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of food legislation, GFSI standards including BRC and Bord Bia
- Have a demonstrable comprehensive knowledge of auditing, quality management techniques such as HACCP and Process Control
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, being able to execute plans efficiently
- Proven track record of delivering sustainable change initiatives and results.
- Proven track record of achievement in continuous improvement
- Proficient in Excel & IT systems
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
