Job description
Associate / Technical Director (Civil / Structural) | Dublin
We are currently supporting a respected and fast-growing consultancy in the appointment of a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer to take on the role of Associate / Technical Director, acting as the Technical Lead for their newly established Dublin office (Dublin 2). Since launching in 2011, the company has expanded steadily, now employing over 70 professionals across offices in Belfast, London, and Dublin. The firm has earned a strong reputation for delivering creative, technically sound engineering solutions across a diverse and challenging portfolio of projects.
Your new role as Associate / Technical Director (Civil / Structural)
As a key member of the leadership team, you will take a central role in shaping the technical direction of the Dublin office. This includes leading the delivery of major civil and structural projects, overseeing engineering quality, and providing mentorship to engineers and technical staff. You will work closely with senior leadership, contributing to strategic planning, technical governance, and the development of internal capabilities, while also playing an active role in building client relationships and securing new work.
What you will need to succeed as Associate / Technical Director (Civil / Structural)
- Chartered Engineer (Civil or Structural) with a minimum of 10 years' experience in consultancy-led design environments.
- Strong technical background in rail infrastructure or heavy civils projects, such as railway structures, platform and station upgrades, bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and associated infrastructure.
- Proven experience in leading the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary transportation or infrastructure projects.
- A solid understanding of design standards and regulations relevant to rail and heavy civil engineering in Ireland and the UK.
- Confidence in overseeing project delivery from concept through to construction, including team leadership and client engagement.
- A track record - or a strong interest - in business development, tendering, and work winning.
What's in it for you?
You will be joining a forward-thinking consultancy with a collaborative culture and a commitment to technical excellence and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity to influence and shape the growth of a new office, backed by the support and resources of an established firm. In return, you can expect a highly competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, reflective of your experience and the strategic importance of the role.
