Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a reputable construction business in Co. Armagh who have developed relationships with customers across the world due to their high quality services. This is a great chance for a buyer with experience in the broader construction industry who is looking to make their next career move.

This role will play a key part in supporting project delivery through effective procurement strategies, supplier management, and continuous improvement of purchasing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process purchasing requisitions in line with internal procedures, ensuring accurate and timely status reporting.
  • Identify procurement requirements aligned to project scope and budget, ensuring best value and adherence to quality standards.
  • Source, negotiate, and procure materials, equipment, and services to meet operational and project demands.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating favourable pricing, lead times, and contractual terms.
  • Support supplier performance management activities, ensuring compliance with agreed standards and escalating issues where necessary.
  • Coordinate logistics, including arranging transport and tracking deliveries to ensure on-time receipt of goods.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the organisation's electronic document management systems.
  • Analyse purchasing data and market trends to support informed and strategic buying decisions.
  • Conduct internal reviews of procurement processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a procurement, purchasing, or supply chain role within a project-led or technical environment (Construction and related disciplines).
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills with a commercial mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret data and market trends.
