Job description
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a global manufacturing business on the appointment of a Buyer. This is a full-time permanent position offering the successful candidate a chance to progress their procurement experience in one of Northern Ireland's most successful business sectors.
As the Buyer, you will report to Category Managers and the Supply Chain Manager while collaborating with suppliers to support production and quality requirements, while identifying cost-reduction opportunities.

In your new role:
- Plan and schedule production parts to meet daily demand.
- Interpret and execute Sales & Operations Plans (S&OP).
- Manage a portfolio of suppliers, building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Lead tenders, resourcing initiatives, and cost-saving projects.
- Oversee implementation of cost-reduction projects.
- Provide monthly supplier forecasts based on the latest S&OP data.
- Continuously improve forecasting for long-lead items, optional parts, and kanban supply.
- Drive improvements in supplier performance and actively challenge lead times.
- Analyse stock levels in line with Excess & Obsolete (E&O) reports and recommend actions.
- Collaborate with suppliers to support production and quality requirements, while identifying cost-reduction opportunities.
- Manage supplier engineering change pricing, scheduling, and implementation ansd maintain accurate supplier pricing records.
What you will need to succeed:
- Proficiency with MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Effective problem-solving abilities with a proactive mindset.
- Intermediate-level Excel and strong MS Office knowledge.
Desirable
- Knowledge of statistics, forecasting techniques, and their financial/operational impacts.
- Experience working within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
- CIPS qualification (or equivalent).
