Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading facilities and support services provider on the appointment of an Environmental Advisor.

As an Environmental Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, maintaining ISO14001 standards, and driving sustainability initiatives across a large and complex site.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an organisation committed to compliance, continual improvement and delivering positive environmental and sustainability outcomes.

In your new role:

  • Maintain and continually develop the organisation's Environmental Management System (ISO14001) and provide support to environmental working groups
  • Ensure compliance with all PPC permits, discharge consents and environmental obligations
  • Coordinate waste management activities across site, ensuring legal and company requirements are fully met
  • Assess environmental impacts of site and contractor activities, identifying risks and implementing improvement measures
  • Develop and maintain systems to track environmental performance metrics (waste, water, emissions, energy), analysing trends and driving improvements
  • Prepare and deliver environmental reports to stakeholders and regulatory authorities
  • Investigate and report on environmental incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Lead internal audits, facilitate external inspections, and support continuous improvement in compliance processes
  • Deliver environmental awareness training, toolbox talks and communication programmes across the site
  • Support and progress ESG and sustainability initiatives in line with company and client objectives
  • Participate in the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and provide support during environmental emergencies or incidents

What you will need to succeed:

  • A primary degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an Environmental advisory or compliance role
  • Strong knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems and practical experience of environmental audits
  • Understanding of environmental permitting and consent requirements
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving and communication skills
  • IT proficiency (MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • A full, clean driving licence

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Registered Environmental and EMS Auditor
  • NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of waste management, environmental legislation and application of the waste hierarchy
  • Previous involvement in ESG and sustainability programmes
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels
