Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a well-established and highly respected manufacturing organisation to recruit a Health & Safety Lead.

This is a key, site-based role where you will work closely with operational teams to embed a proactive, people-focused safety culture and drive continuous improvement across all health and safety activities.

Reporting into a senior Group Health & Safety function, this position offers the opportunity to influence safety standards at site level while contributing to wider group initiatives. You will act as a trusted partner to site leadership, ensuring compliance, engagement, and best practice are consistently achieved.

In your new role:

  • Lead and promote a zero-harm, shared-responsibility safety culture across the site
  • Develop, implement and maintain site-level Health & Safety management plans aligned with group strategy
  • Ensure all risk assessments, safe systems of work and safety audits are current, practical and effectively implemented
  • Monitor compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation, policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, driving close-out of actions and improvements
  • Lead and support incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and preventive actions
  • Manage contractor safety compliance and monitor safe working practices on site
  • Prepare accurate weekly and monthly Health & Safety performance reports
  • Support the continuous improvement of group-wide Health & Safety procedures and initiatives
  • Act as a visible, approachable safety presence on site, engaging teams at all levels

What you will need to succeed:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Health & Safety qualification)
  • Experience in a Health & Safety role or high-risk operational environment
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations in the UK and Ireland
  • Knowledge of auditing, risk assessments, and incident management
  • IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, ability to engage stakeholders at all levels

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Degree in Health & Safety, Quality, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG environments
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and integrated management system auditing
  • Other relevant Health & Safety certifications
