Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a significant infrastructure and engineering provider on the appointment of an HSEQ Advisor.

As the HSEQ Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting project delivery teams across multiple sites, ensuring all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards are met and continuously improved. You will work closely with site teams and senior managers to embed best practices, minimise risk, and uphold compliance with all statutory and internal HSEQ requirements.

In your new role:

  • Support the development and implementation of HSEQ Management Systems in line with ISO 45001, 9001 and 14001 standards
  • Monitor compliance across projects, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions where required
  • Advise site teams and management on all HSEQ-related matters, ensuring legal and regulatory duties are met
  • Deliver internal training including inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Prepare and review risk assessments, method statements, emergency response plans, and other project-specific HSEQ documentation
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections, including support for third-party and certification audits
  • Oversee and review the HSEQ performance of subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project and legal requirements
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and ensuring effective remedial measures are implemented
  • Report on HSEQ performance to senior management and contribute to KPI tracking and performance reviews
  • Support initiatives that drive continuous improvement in HSEQ standards and promote innovation in safe working practices

What you will need to succeed:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent qualification)
  • Degree qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in an HSEQ role within civil engineering, utilities or telecoms environments
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, 9001, and 14001 standards
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard HSEQ systems

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • CSCS card
  • Experience supporting certification or external audit processes
  • Familiarity with tender or PQQ submissions from an HSEQ perspective
