Job description

Vickerstock in partnership with a well establish Food manufacturing company are currently looking for an experienced maintenance technician.

About the Role

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, adherence to safety and quality standards, and collaboration with the production team to achieve operational targets.

  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, including troubleshooting and basic programming.
  • Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose faults efficiently.
  • Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Basic understanding of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for logging work and managing spare parts.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to support production goals.
  • Education & Certifications:
  • Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent field).
  • Apprenticeship certification in mechanical or electrical trades is an advantage.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting certification (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Health & Safety certification (such as Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Electrical Safety, etc.).
  • Additional industry-specific training (e.g., food manufacturing safety, GMP, or ISO standards) is beneficial.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance role.
  • Experience working with high-speed production lines, conveyors, packaging equipment, or automated systems.
  • Proven experience in electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Previous experience in a regulated environment (e.g., food, pharmaceuticals, or automotive) is advantageous.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
