Job description
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a global manufacturing business on the appointment of a Buyer/Material Planner on a full-time permanent basis.
As the Buyer/Material Planner, you will schedule the production of parts from local and global suppliers to meet daily production demands. You will order and expedite parts to achieve an optimum level of inventory to efficiently support production.

In your new role:
- Schedule the flow of production parts to meet daily manufacturing demands.
- Interpret and implement Sales & Operations Plans (S&OP) to align supply with demand.
- Manage a portfolio of suppliers, fostering and maintaining strong, effective relationships.
- Release purchase orders to the supplier network in line with current demand forecasts.
- Provide suppliers with rolling forecasts based on the latest S&OP data.
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance, with a focus on reducing lead times.
- Analyse stock levels in relation to Excess & Obsolete (E&O) inventory reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with suppliers to meet production and quality standards, while identifying cost reduction opportunities.
- Oversee pricing, scheduling, and implementation of Engineering Changes with suppliers.
- Lead tendering processes, supplier resourcing, and cost-saving initiatives.
What you will need to succeed:
- 2 year's recent experience in a similar supply chain position
- Experience in the manufacturing or engineering sectors
- Strong Excel skills
- SAP and/or Oracle experience is advantageous
