Job description

Head of Interior Design | Belfast / Dublin / London

Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with a growing interiors and fit-out specialist to recruit a Head of Interior Design.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for setting the creative direction, quality, and delivery of interior design projects across the business. The position offers flexibility on location, with opportunities based in Belfast, Dublin, or London, and will play a central role in shaping the future growth of the design function.

The successful candidate will lead and mentor a multidisciplinary design team, oversee projects from initial client brief through to completion, and work closely with project delivery, commercial, and procurement teams to ensure high-quality outcomes delivered on time and within budget.

Your new role as Head of Interior Design
As Head of Interior Design, you will report to the Managing Director and take ownership of the design vision and standards across the business, balancing creativity with commercial and practical delivery requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing creative leadership and setting the design direction across all interior projects.
  • Reviewing and approving design concepts, layouts, and final presentations to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Translating client briefs into clear, deliverable design strategies.
  • Overseeing design development from concept through to fully coordinated construction-ready packages.
  • Working closely with project managers and site teams to support smooth project execution.
  • Managing and mentoring the design team, including resource allocation and workflow planning.
  • Supporting recruitment and development of the design team as the business grows.
  • Attending key client meetings and presentations, acting as a senior design representative.
  • Ensuring designs align with pre-construction budgets and commercial constraints.
  • Collaborating with estimating, procurement, and supply chain teams to deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Developing and refining internal design processes, standards, and quality controls.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and industry partners.

What you'll need to succeed as Head of Interior Design
To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate:

  • A degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading and managing interior design teams.
  • A strong portfolio of completed interior projects, ideally within hospitality or commercial environments.
  • Excellent client-facing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance creativity with budget and buildability.
  • Experience working closely with contractors, project delivery, and procurement teams.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g. AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite).
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to set direction while remaining hands-on when required.
  • Experience in hospitality, luxury, or large-scale commercial interiors would be particularly advantageous.

What's in it for you?
In return, you'll receive a competitive senior-level package and the opportunity to lead and shape a design function within a growing interiors business, including:

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and seniority.
  • Flexible location options across Belfast, Dublin, or London.
  • A leadership role with real influence over creative direction and business growth.
  • Opportunity to build, mentor, and develop a high-performing design team.
  • Exposure to high-quality interior projects across commercial and hospitality sectors.
  • Collaborative working environment with strong links between design, delivery, and commercial teams.
